Taboo

Why venture to debate?
Do that and you might lose,
Far better to berate
The critic than his views.

Why argue fairly when
It’s easier to smear
And censor, while your pen
Prints forcefully and clear?

Why tolerate a voice
You’d rather went unheard?
If people have a choice
They might abjure your word.

Fair play, right of reply,
If given, cause regret,
Far better to rely
On jibe and epithet.
