Salvation

Twenty-two years ago today
I stood in this very Square,
And lamented Love Unfound.

Now I envy no man his lot,
Nor curse my empty bed.

Some were put on this Earth for a reason;
We few, we chosen few,
Seek not our hylic pleasures in the
Corrosive touch of alluring sylphs,
Nor in worldly possessions,
Nor even in wine and song.

We have seen through the illusion,
Our duty and destiny are to serve,
Not those with whom we share this mortal coil,
Our glorious sacrifice is for those yet unborn.
