August 27, 1988: On said date at Warren, Michigan, a woman claims to have been carjacked and raped. After it happens, she looks for her boyfriend, goes to his house, and sleeps. Then she reports it. She is physically examined, but no evidence is found. An on site investigation proves she is either seriously mistaken or lying about what happened after the alleged carjacking. The case is closed on or after October 12, 1988. In 1992, the same woman claims to have been the victim of a bizarre street robbery which the police conclude never happened. In August 1994, she accuses Robert Mathis and an unidentified man of rape. Mathis is convicted. It remains to be seen if this rape happened either, but Mathis wins his appeal against conviction.
