She Taught Me How To Love

She taught me how to love, I never knew,
I’d never had the opportunity,
Between the girl and I, affection grew,
And blossomed into a thing of beauty.
She taught me how to laugh, I never had
But superficially; with her I felt
A warmth inside, a man whose life was sad
Saw years of pain and heartache start to melt.
She taught me how to live for living’s sake,
She took away my scorn and bitterness,
I realised life without her was a fake,
Specious, a sham, a well of emptiness.
Ere I found her the Sun had never shone,
Nor has it since the day I found her gone.
