THE NCROPA VIRTUAL ARCHIVE SITE INDEX

When I began scanning the documents for this archive it was agreed I would take one or two lever arch files at a time. I envisaged scanning them chronologically or more or less so, but this has been possible only to a limited degree. Having received 4 files, on March 17, 2013 the rest of the archive was delivered to me. It is enormous, and although the correspondence is mostly chronological, some of the files are thematic. There are also various collections of documents. The only way to scan that chronologically would be to separate and sort the whole damn lot, index them, then start from the beginning. Life is too short, and most of mine is gone already, so I have done the best I can one file at a time. Although most of the documents are in chronological order, I will almost certainly have to go back over them at some point. Fortunately, David Webb was a very meticulous person, and there will be few problems with the correspondence at least.

The use of lever arch files and ring binders necessitates punching holes in documents. I have no control over this, but hopefully this will impinge upon the reader’s comprehension minimally if at all.

On April 18, 1977, David Webb wrote to every single MP, at that time there were 631 of them. This was nearly a year after the founding of NCROPA, but over the years he would write an enormous number of such letters which would often be copied to various individuals and/or bodies, with variations in the text as appropriate. Many of these letters were doubtless ignored by some or most of the recipients; others were simply acknowledged; others drew in-depth replies varying from extremely favourable to the exact opposite. It would be pointless to scan every single response, so as I pointed out on the HomePage, I have scanned only the most important (and at times the most humorous) according to my own criteria.
