Mood

The Mood
Is brood,
Or good,
But never understood.
A complex haze
Of happiness,
Euphoria,
Malaise,
A dudgeon then a daze.

The Mood is hard
As ice,
Then soft as lard,
Black,
Red,
Pink and radiant;
As a pendulum swings,
The chameleon changes.

She kneels to stroke a kitten
And a lion roars,
She shrinks from razor claws,
Perplexed, bewildered, frightened.

Caring husband,
Tender lover,
Beast!
Abuser!

The Mood is bad,
The Mood is sad,
The Mood is glad,
The Mood is...unpredictable,
Inevitable,
Ineluctable.

The Mood exists for him,
And he exists not without the Mood.
