Atheist’s Anthem

It seems that life will end
A haze, more than a blend
Of experience, confusion,
Pathos, and disillusion,
Wondering, yet never knowing why,
As days keep passing, years keep rolling by.

When innocence is lost,
And virtue, count the cost,
Then shrug in resignation,
No sweat, and no salvation,
The Reaper takes us all, don’t fret or cry,
As days keep passing, years keep rolling by.

Sow on Earth, reap in Heaven,
Priests fool themselves, wise men even!
For life is here and now,
Elysium disavow!
And either build your Paradise
Or bask in hedonistic vice;
Ascetics reap no prize, no pie in sky,
For days keep passing, years keep rolling by.
Eat, drink, play now, tomorrow you may die.
